The ACS Linear Belt Sealer - a world leader in sealing technology -
An Aluminium Foil Cap is a very low cost closure that makes the capping press an extremely cost-effective investment. In addition to the press, caps made from modern laminated foils must also be heat sealed to the container.
The traditional method of heat-sealing aluminium caps is a rotary conduction turret, which is an efficient but very high-cost machine, particularly when compared to the cost of the capping press.
|
ACS developed the Linear Belt Sealer to provide a novel alternative that corrected this cost imbalance, using the latest induction-sealing technology and a continuous in-line rather than rotary movement. As a result the Linear Belt Sealer dramatically alters the balance of cost and benefit without any compromise in performance.
The Linear Belt Sealer is a stand-alone unit that is fitted over a straight conveyor and is adjustable in height for different containers. It heat-seals an aluminium cap by applying pressure to the top of the cap with a compressible high-temperature re-circulating belt. This ensures that the foil is in contact with the neck of the container as it passes through the induction field and in the cool-down zone.
The amount of pressure, induction power and dwell time can be precisely regulated to achieve a perfect seal every time, at belt speeds of up to 40 metres per minute. The belt runs on special rollers that enable maximum pressure to be exerted without any speed reduction.

The Linear Belt Sealer has an additional application with non-torqued caps that have an induction liner. This is because non-torqued caps cannot be guaranteed to provide consistent pressure on the liner, which would otherwise result in poor quality sealing without the pressure exerted by the LBS.
